Become a Tutor: 2021-2022 Academic Year
about the position
Welcome to NU|Tutors! We are a team of Northwestern students who connect talented peers to elementary, middle, and high school students in need of tutoring in the Evanston area. This is a paid position, with hourly rates ranging from $25/hour on-campus or online to $45/hour off-campus. Our administration team is all-volunteer, and any money we make goes straight into paying rent on our office space, where we host test-prep classes.
As a tutor, you have complete flexibility over your schedule, including the ability to tell us:
How many hours a week you’d like to tutor
Which subjects you’d like to tutor
When and where (online/on-campus/off-campus) you’d like to tutor
Each time we receive a request from a new client, we’ll reach out to all tutors whose selections qualify them for the opportunity and offer it to the most qualified candidate who accepts in a timely manner. You’ll then coordinate independently with your client, using our online platform to schedule and log reports on your lessons.

To apply to join our team of tutors, you must fill out a written application and complete one to two interviews with our management team. Tutoring experience, academic records, professionalism, and interview performance are especially important to us.
To qualify for application, you must be:
A current Northwestern student
Qualified to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
when are we hiring?
We hire tutors on an as-needed basis. We are currently evaluating our need for tutors but will hire again at some point during this academic year.
